Prius Harness Damage

From hobbit's web sitehttp://techno-fandom.org/%7Ehobbit/cars/starthole/ I learned about a potential wire harness damage problem for 2004 to 2006 Prius. On his web page, he said that, "I have received independent confirmation around September 2005 that this can and *has* caused motor-control wiring problems in '04 and '05 Priuses. It is unknown at this time what Toyota is doing about it, but it's clearly an SSC-able issue whether it's actively cutting into owners' harnesses or not."

The easy fix is to just slide a split hose around the harness and call it a day (Avid's suggestion, including the zip tie!). Slightly more involved is removing the plate and installing it the proper way around. So just to see what was going on, and to avert any problems, I spent five minutes and slipped a piece of reinforced hose around the harness, and secured it with a zip-tie. This was all done with the car on the ground, and with my left hand, blindly. You can see the problem spot from the top, and then feel for it from the front of the car, just behind the plastic air pieces at the nose.

The overview from above. Look for the hose with the white strip (that's the zip tie on the "protector hose") and you'll see the bracket just above it, and behind the orange high voltage harness.

A bit closer view.
